welcome to richordinski.com
greetings.
many of you have heard by now, but in case you haven't...
for the next few months, i'll be touring the US as musical director and guitarist for one of my early guitar heroes, Phil Keaggy. when i was just a wee lad, growing up in snowy northeastern ohio, i remember hearing two amazing recordings by Phil in the late 1970's. the one that really blew my mind was called "The Master and The Musician." it was, to my great surprise, entirely instrumental. and, almost entirely made of guitar noises. it was groundbreaking by any standards, but for an aspiring young guitarist, it was a revelation. the orchestration, the harmonic variety, the otherworldly sounds, all combined to completely change what i thought the guitar could do and sound like. in a way, whatever little sonic innovations i may have strived for over the years were awakened by this record in 1978.
imagine my feelings, now, being asked to contribute musically to a tour replicating and honoring that record, made so long ago. on this tour, we'll be playing the entire record in it's entirety almost completely in the sequence in which it was originally conceived. to say that it is an honor may be the understatement of the year.
please visit www.philkeaggy.com for details about when the tour will be heading toward your part of the country.
peace
