lemon grass - (featuring Phil Keaggy) expanding on the exotic influences of previous monk albums, Lemon Grass combines open tuning fingerstyle guitar with a foot stomping Led Zeppelin drum track. Add tabla and Phil Keaggy's fluid guitar melodies and we have a classic east meets west instrumental.

middle way - written with Ric's frequent collaborator, David Wilcox. perhaps the most searching combination of music and melody on the record. two different mixes are included, the version to be included on the unreleased Monk record this fall features Ric singing, and the other, features David Wilcox and is scheduled to be released on David's upcoming record "what you whispered." Phil Keaggy contributes soaring lead guitar throughout.

something to see - the first spoken word venture for Monk. it is no secret that Ric has long been a fan of folks like Bruce Cockburn, Robbie Robertson and Leonard Cohen, all of whom have combined spoken poetry with evocative textures. Ric's longtime friend, drummer Brian Kelley, sumberges himself in the groove and propels the song into a whole new dimension for Monk.
